Cupid is sending us snow on Wednesday. I usually just blame one of my friends in Alaska for sending us all this sub-zero weather and snow.

Out & About...
Darn this cold weather already... no wonder the schools are delayed in the morning. Getting up at 6:40 for a car appointment was bone-chilling. I long for the warmth of January. ;)
I don't get a chance to visit Downtown Harrisburg as much as I'd like to... if you haven't been there lately, take a visit. 2nd Street has become Restaurant Row... I'm hungry for some barbeque chicken pizza from Zephyr Express. Strawberry Square (I think that's what it's called) is a very nice shopping area. One of my radio friends and I shopped there a few years ago. Over the summer, I want to visit City Island. Next month, on the West Shore on Trindle Road between Camp Hill and Mechanicsburg, the Coliseum Entertainment Megaplex opens. Easy for me to find it, because it's a block from the bowling center on Trindle Road. ;) I'll let you know when it opens. We Schuylkill Countians ("Skooks") hafta travel an hour in either direction to find one of these places, so I'll let you know if it is wirth the drive. Having been to Dave & Busters in Philly & Baltimore, Boomers Park in Fort Lauderdale, and even little Cluggy's in Chambersburg, my friends and I can tell quickly whether or not a place is worth the trip.
Definitely worth a visit is my website of the day, http://www.sarabozich.com. Sara writes "Out with Sara" every Thursday in the Harrisburg Patriot-News. Her page also has links to just about every Harrisburg area hot spot. It's geared more towards those looking for a night on the town, a decent meal, and a bar or club to hang out afterwards. Of course, my co-workers will think I chose this as a site of the day because Sara's blond. Yes, but she knows her stuff. Her columns are a fun read.

Inside my gig...
Hello, apologies for no blog yesterday. I was very busy. Usually when Dave Smith is out on a live broadcast, I'm in studio running all the commercials and control board. In addition to hosting Sparks After Dark, I also am in charge of the commercial inventory at T102 and WPPA. When an advertiser wants to "buy" commercial time on either station, I have to make sure the commercial is properly placed into our system. That can take a while, depending on if we have the ad or not. Yesterday was one of those busy days.
Back to a topic I previosuly discussed... my weekend. I run my own series of bowling tournaments for teenagers and college kids just about every weekend, and I help run another series. This past weekend, we held one of our bigger events down in Ephrata, Lancaster County. It was held in memory of Justin Valentine, a young man who died last year in a car crash. Justin has bowled in our events for the past few years, and is missed by all. In his remembrance, the Justin Valentine Memorial Scholarship Fund was set up.
There are two other bowlers who participated my events who I've lost in car crashes. It's been tough getting over their losses. This explains why I ask you to "buckle up" at the end of each show and each blog. I've been in a few wrecks myself, and my best friends have had their share. With how much I travel on the weekends, my family and friends are always concerned for my driving safety. Among my closest friends, I'm the one who drives the slowest. Yes, I get busted on for it, but I'd rather hear that than hear a doctor tell me I can't walk or talk anymore.
Be careful out on the roads.

As usual, my weekend will be spent at a bowling center... Blue Ball Lanes on Saturday, and 222 Dutch Lanes on Sunday. More about that on Monday.

Whether the weather is good or whether the weather is bad...
We've become a society obsessed by weather... snow, sleet, freezing rain, rain, wind, downdrafts, downbursts, tornadoes, hurricanes, sunshine, cold, hot, warm, freezing, heat wave, El Nino, La Nina, Katrina, typhoon, monsoon, tsunami, drizzle, light and variable, barometric pressure, cold front, warm front, jet stream, isobars, and so on.
It's so much so anymore that channel 22 gives you a full forecast in the first minute. When a storm threatens to hit and ends up hitting, it takes up half the newscast. But if it's hyped, and it misses, then people go so far as making death threats on the meteorologists. Makes you shake your head.
In surfing all the TV news websites, one in Buffalo is remembering the Blizzard of '77. There are so many blizzards up in the Great Lakes region that it's hard to discern that one from the one in '78 to the one this past October. My favorite was the one in 1993. It started Friday night and didn't let up until Sunday morning, then there was no school for two days. In January 1996, we had back to back blizzards, then 60 degree temperatures and a nasty rainstorm melted everything. The threat for flooding was so real that downtown Wilkes-Barre was evacuated. Then last June, the flooding that hit us hard here in Schuylkill County also casued evacuations in W-B.
The call was for two to four inches tonight, but now it's only an inch. We shall see.
