Happy Birthday...

...to the Wilkes-Barre Citizens' Voice. It's first edition was published on 10/9/78. It was born from a newspaper strike. The whole story is available at www.citizensvoice.com.

They have those first editions posted... the prices at the local market are astonishing... 8 cents a pound for cabbage, cucumbers 10 for $1, and 10 pounds of potatoes for 59 cents.

Happy Birthday to the Citizens' Voice. A lot of good people have worked there, including a few of my good sportswriter buddies.

I've given in, and turned on the heat at my apartment. Oh, and remind me not to take a nap during the day... I can't get to sleep at night when I do.

Go Phillies.

Buckle Up,
TS
